ISLAM 101

bismillah

They want to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah refuses except to perfect His light, although the disbelievers dislike it. It is He who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religions, although they who associate others with Allah dislike it.” [Surah Tawbah; 9:32-33]

——————————————

Islam, the religion of over 1.4 billion in the world. Islam is considered to be the fastest-growing religion in the world, with millions of converts from all corners of the globe and all walks of life, who embrace this beautiful religion annually. Islam provides humankind with a unified view about the purpose of our creation and existence, our ultimate destiny and our place among other creatures. It is a way of life that is in complete conformance with nature, and with reason, logic and science.

The Arabic word,‘Islam’, means voluntary surrender to the will of Allah and obedience to His commands.‘ Allah’ is the Arabic word that Muslims use for God. A person who freely and consciously accepts the Islamic way of life and sincerely practices it is called a ‘Muslim’.

ONENESS OF GOD (TAWHID)

This is the most important Islamic belief. It implies that everything in existence originates from the one and only Creator, who is also the Sustainer and the sole Source of Guidance. This belief should govern all aspects of human life. Recognition of this fundamental truth results in a unified view of existence that rejects any divisions of life into the religious and the secular. Allah is the sole source of Power and Authority and therefore entitled to worship and obedience from mankind. There is no scope for any partnership with the Creator. Tawhid teaches man that Allah is not born, nor is anyone born of Him. He has no son or daughter. Human beings, like the rest of creation, are His subjects.

PROPHETHOOD (RISALAH) or Messengership.

Since the creation of the first human, Allah has revealed His guidance to mankind by sending prophets, who all called to the belief of One God. The prophets who received books from Allah are called messengers. Whenever the teachings of a prophet were distorted by people Allah sent another prophet to bring human beings back to the Straight Path. The chain of Risalah began with Adam, included Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Lot, Jacob, Joseph, Moses and Jesus, and ended with Muhammad (peace be upon them all), as the final messenger of Allah to all of mankind.

The revealed books from Allah are: the Torah (Tawrah), the Psalms (Zabur), the Gospel (Injeel) and the Qur’an. The Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)1, as the final book of Guidance. Among all these books, it is only the Qur’an that remains unchanged, in its original revealed form.

LIFE AFTER DEATH (AKHIRAH)

This belief has a profound impact on the life of a believer by making them accountable to Allah. On the Day of Judgment we will be judged according to how we lived our lives. One who obeys and worships Allah will be rewarded with a permanent place of happiness and bliss in Paradise; One who does not do so will be sent to Hell, a place of punishment and suffering.

FIVE PILLARS OF ISLAM

Acting correctly and sincerely on the five pillars transforms a Muslim’s life into one that is in harmony with nature and thus in conformity with the will of the Creator. It inspires one to work towards the establishment of justice, equality and righteousness in society, and the eradication of injustice, falsehood and evil.

1. TESTIMONY (Shahadah), the first of the five basic foundations, is the declaration, knowingly and voluntarily, of: La ilaha illal lahu Muhammadur rasulul lah. “There is no god except Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah”.This declaration is the basis of all actions in Islam, and the other basic duties follow this affirmation.

2. COMPULSORY PRAYER (Salah) is offered five times a day. It is a practical demonstration of faith, and keeps a believer in touch with their Creator. The Salah develops in a believer the qualities of self-discipline, steadfastness and obedience to the Truth, leading one to be patient, honest and truthful in the affairs of their life.

3. CHARITY (Zakah) is a compulsory payment from a Muslim’s annual savings. It can only be spent on helping the poor, the needy, and the oppressed, and for the general upliftment of society. Zakah is one of the fundamental principles of Islamic economy, which ensures an equitable society where everyone has a right to contribute and share.

4. FASTING (Sawm) is the annual obligatory fasting during each day of the month of Ramadan – the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. One must refrain from eating, drinking, smoking, and sex, from dawn to sunset. Sawm develops a believer’s moral and spiritual standard and keeps them away from selfishness, greed, extravagance and other vices. Sawm is an annual training program that increases a Muslim’s determination to fulfill their obligation to the Almighty Lord.

5. PILGRIMAGE (Hajj) is an annual event, obligatory on those Muslims who can afford to undertake it, at least once in their lifetime. It is a pilgrimage (journey) to the “House of Allah” (Al-Ka’bah) in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, in the twelfth month of the Islamic calendar. Hajj symbolizes the unity of humankind; Muslims from every race and nationality assemble together in equality and fraternity to worship their Lord.

THE QUR’AN

The Qur’an is the final Book of guidance from Allah, revealed to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) through the angel Gabriel (Jibra’il). Every word of the Qur’an is the word of Allah. The Qur’an is unrivalled in its recording and preservation. Unlike other scriptures that were corrupted with human interpolations and omissions, the Qur’an has remained unchanged, even to a letter, for over 1400 years. The Qur’an is the last and final revelation to mankind and covers all aspects of human life, and its relation to the life after death.

THE HADITH

The Hadith is the collection of sayings, actions and silent approvals of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). It explains the Qur’an, and how to practice it. The Hadith were recorded meticulously by the Prophet’s companions.

Why Should You Be A Muslim?

By: Dawood Adib

Lecture in Camden, New Jersey

Misconceptions of Islam:

-The most misunderstood, despised and rejected religion in the world is Islam.

-Yet this despised and rejected religion in the world is the fastest-growing religion in the United States and in the world.

- President Nixon once mentioned on national television that now we are about to do away with communism, we have to deal with the biggest threat of this society which is Islam.

Conversion Statistics:

- According to Dan Rather and Mike Wallace on 60 minutes, they mentioned that Islam is the fastest-growing religion in the US and in the World.

-Wallace said that by the year 2300, one of out every three Americans is going to be a Muslim. 1 out of 3!

-Already 1.4 billion people out of 6 billion in the world are Muslims.

-The fastest-growing religion in the army, air force, navy, coast guards, even the prison system, is Islam.

- During the Gulf War in 1991, over 8,000 US forces converted to Islam, many of whom were stationed at base camps in Saudi Arabia.

- 35% of them were white; 16% of them were women.

- Why is this happening? Why are people becoming Muslims?

-There are various reasons as to why a person becomes a Muslim.

-Some people accept Islam because:

- They think Islam is a religion of Black people until they realize that Muslims come in various colour, creed and ethnic background.

- Some people view Islam like a gang and they want protection, especially the men in jail.

-Some people believe that this way of life takes you out of being oppressed

-Some people simply want to marry a Muslim.

Why should you be a Muslim?

-The reason why you should be a Muslim is stated in the Holy Qur’an:

-A Muslim is the one that submits their entire soul to the will of the Creator (Allah).

-Other religions of the world are worshipped by a connection to another form of life (human being, animal) that Allah (SWT) created [i.e. Jesus (Isa, AS), cows (hindu religion), Moses (Judaism), etc...]

-The only religion in the world that the person who practices that religion is connected to the Creator of the heavens and the Earth is Islam.

-Islam meaning to submit oneself to the will of Allah.

-The title Christian, Jew, Hindu, is connected to a human being.

-The origin of their word is connected to a human being, a town, some village or tribe.

-Christians call themselves Christians because Jesus is the Christ and Muslims also do believe that Jesus (AS) as a prophet and not in the form of god.

-Jews have the name because of Judah, a tribe.

-Hindus because of that affiliations, etc….

-Muslims and Islam have their name and title of their religion because it is connected to the One who is Allah.

-They submit to the will of the Creator and they make themselves slaves to the One who created Jesus, Moses, Abraham, Muhammad and everything you can and can’t see.

-You should be a Muslim because the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth says:

“Wa ma khalaqtoom jinna wal insaa ila liy’abudhulahi ‘abidoon”.

“I did not create the Jiin (unseen creatures), and human beings except for one reason and that is to worship Me.”

-Islam is the only religion; Muslims are the only people that realize that Allah did not create us to be basketball players, nuclear physicist, cab drivers, carpenters, plumbers, nurses and doctors. Allah did not create the human beings to waste our time using drugs or selling our bodies on the streets.

-ALLAH DID NOT CREATE THE HUMAN BEINGS TO WORSHIP SOMETHING THAT HE CREATED!

-He created the human beings to worship Him who created him!

Why Was I Created?

-This is the ONLY reason why you should be a Muslim.

-By becoming a Muslim, you are returning to the reason why you were created.

-Ask yourself this; why were I created? I guarantee you you will come up with something that will not help you in the Afterlife.

-Some would say I was born or created to be a good person, to help the needy, to become a scientist; whatever you think you were created is going to stop at the grave. It is not going to help you in the Afterlife.

-But the ONLY reason why you were created is to worship your Lord.

- Worshipping your Lord is something you don’t have the choice to be doing.

-The detailed program of how  to submit to Him and Worship him is called Islam.

-If you read the Torah, Bible, or Hindu “scriptures”, you will read passages that will lead you to the destruction of this worldly life that goes against the very nature of a human being.

- Islam shows the human being exactly how to live their life.

-Has anyone heard of a religion where for every act, there is a prayer (du’a/supplication) for it; a prayer that keeps you mindful of the Creator?

-We have a prayer when we put on or off our clothes; a prayer for when a baby comes out of the baby’s womb. A prayer when one is getting on a plane, train or automobile. There is a prayer for every single factor in our life.

-What kind of religion connects you to the Creator like that?

-But at the same time you could be a police officer, a beautician, a nurse or a doctor and yet, you NEVER get disconnected from your Lord.

-The Creator is connected to you because of the way the religion of Islam is setup; the political system, the social system, the judicial system, the economic system are set up in a way that you would constantly worship in your Lord.

-But the REAL benefit of becoming a Muslim—and this will sound very blunt and direct—is that you will receive salvation.

-All the other religions say the same thing except Christianity. And Christians believe that Jesus (AS) is their personal saviour; they believe in the vicarious blood atonement; believe that he died for your sins.

- There are 2 basic reasons why you will receive salvation when you become a Muslim:

(1) Would you like to gamble with your soul? Would you like to drink, smoke, fornicate, cheat, lie, gossip and then safely say to your Creator while standing in front of Him “I worshipped you, please forgive and grant me your paradise?” And He will grant you your paradise based on your intentions? The answer is no.

-Allah, The Most High says “Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him.” And in the last day he will be the loser.

(2) Each and every single human being that Allah created, they have a time span. EVERYTHING HAS A TIME SPAN IN THIS WORLD.

-You and I, we don’t know when we’re going to die. And in that time span, there are some things we have to do and in order for us to find out what we have to do, we have to go back to the Creators of the heavens and the earth and find out what we have to do.

What Islam is About

-Here is simple question? How many of you thought that Islam is what Louis Farrakhan and his people are talking about?  How many of you thought that Islam is what the five percenters are talking about? How many of you thought that Islam is what Khomeini and the Ayatollahs are talking about? Maybe some of you would think that.

We’re here to tell you:

-That Islam isn’t about that. Islam isn’t about wearing a bow tie and selling newspapers on the streets.

-That Islam isn’t about having your wife walk 5 or 10 feet behind you.

-That Islam is not Saddam Hussein, Gaddafi, Al Qaeda and those other terrorist groups.

-That Islam is not blowing up the World Trade Center.

-That Islam is not any of those things that people are ignorantly or intentionally trying to make Islam seem like it is.

-Islam is the naturally way of light that every single human has to accept and follow.

-If you become a Muslim, then you will receive salvation.

-You will receive the greatest of rewards which is to see the face of your Lord, Allah [in Paradise].

-The greatest of reward; to drink drinks and eat food that you never thought existed; to never grow old; to never have diseases. And when you sweat in Paradise, the perspiration of your sweat smell like perfume. Yes, there is marriage in Paradise and all the good that comes with it.

-In this life, Islam brings ORDER to your life. If you’re not a Muslim, you life has confusion. If you’re not connected to the creator of the Earth; if you’re not worshiping him the way he orders you to worship Him and worshiping Him ALONE, without going through some intermediary by calling on a human being or some rock, stones, trees, animals, then certainly you would have to have some confusion in your life.

-How could your worship 3 gods and think there isn’t confusion in your life?

-If you don’t worship the Creator ALONE by himself, there will some confusion.

Distinctions between Islam and  The West

-The Muslim obeys the creator in every sense. We wear what he says we should wear; we eat what he says we should eat; we sleep with whom he says we should sleep with.

-There is order in a Muslim life.

-look at the social system in Islam and look at the social system in the United States of America.

- For example in America, even though you are getting some social welfare benefit; it is pretty much a crumb. That is why they have social welfare reform programs.

-Then look at the social welfare benefit of Islam. Muslims are commanded to give 2.5% of their money to the less fortunate.

-This is the social system that works anywhere in the world. But the social system in the United States only works in that country.

-In Islam, the money circulates. In the western system, it goes from the bottom to the top; it goes from the poor to the rich. Any economist would know that.

-In Islam, everyone shares. It is COMMANDED that if they have wealth, they give to the poor and if they don’t give to the poor, they face their due consequence

-THE POOR HAVE TO BE TAKEN CARE OF!

-In the political system in America, democracy is the way, and we know, as they claim, that this system is for the people and by the people.

- In Islamic society, the person not only has to be moral but they also have to use the law of Allah (SWT).

-In America, you can buy children as young as 18 months old up to 14 years and sexually abuse them. These are happening everyday in America.

-Some of the very same people who are making legislation are members of that same organization.

-ISLAM IS A PERFECT WAY OF LIFE

-In every single facet of that life, Allah IS ALWAYS FIRST!

-This is another reason why people should be Muslims because it connects us to the Creator of the Heaven and Earth.

-If you don’t accept the religion of Islam; if you don’t believe and accept and bear witness that there is nothing worthy of worship, then you will have a chastisement then any other chastisement than anything you can imagine.

-Allah is NOT a man. Allah is not black or white. Allah is the creator of the human race. He is the creator of the Heavens and the Earths.

-That is what the Christians say. If you don’t believe in Jesus as your lord and saviour, then you’re going to burn in hell.

-I’m here to tell you that there’s a big difference between Islamic and Christian beliefs. If this is true, that we have to believe that if there is someone that’s going to die for your sins; that there’s someone that’s going to die for the sins committed by another human being, sins that he himself did not commit, if this is the case then we are going to be doomed before we even go to the next life. And what is that?

-NO SOUL SHALL BEAR THE BURDEN OF ANOTHER!

-In the bible it says, the sins of the father will not be on the son and the inequities of the son will not on the father. As a man’s soul so shall he reap.

-So how is it that Adam (AS) commits a sin then a man born thousands of years after him is going to die for the sins of Adam (AS). Because of Adam, every human being has a spot on their heart and they’re sinners by birth.

-And now a person is going to come and die for the sins of the people that he himself did not commit? It does not make any sense whatsoever.

-So we’re telling you that YOUR SALVATION in this life, you have to worship the Creator of the Heaven and Earth by himself. You can’t put any partners with him, you have to worship Him ALONE!

-If you do this, you will be given the Paradise that is coming.

-And if you don’t do this, you will receive an abasing chastisement that will go for an eternity.

Accept Islam

-For those of you who think Islam is that black stuff Louis Farrakhan is talking about or for those of who think Islam is the stuff you hear in the media.

-For those of you who now know what Islam is and why you should be a Muslim, we’d like to ask you to accept this way of life that the Creator has ordered for you, has PREPARED FOR YOU TODAY, and you come into the fold of Islam and become a Muslim.

-Become a Muslim like so many people are. People like Mike Wallace on 60 Minutes, Malcolm X, and Yusuf Islam. And this is just a start.

-The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him) told us that Islam is going to spread as far as night and day and there is not a single household that would not have heard of the religion.

-It’s going to be evitable that if you don’t accept Islam, then someone in your family is going to. And if by the will of Allah, you will be hearing that same message, maybe better, than what you heard today.

-You are not going to be escaping from Islam. You will hear about it constantly.

-So we’re asking you to come back to the natural way of life. To come back to the way that you were created. To submit yourself willfully, lovingly to the will of Allah.

-WE ASK YOU TO ACCEPT THIS WAY OF LIFE!

-The way of life for Moses (AS), Jesus (AS), Abraham (AS), Joseph (AS), Mary (AS), Muhammad (AS), they way of life for all the Prophets of Islam.

-And don’t delay it any second. We never know when our end will be. It is better for you to accept Islam before it’s too late.

Spread the word

-It is the duty of us Muslims to continue to spread the word of Islam. Whether we go to university or work, don’t let anything deter you from spreading the good word of Islam. Don’t be afraid of inviting people into Islam.

-DON’T EVER BE AFRAID OF INVITING PEOPLE TO SHOW THEM THE MODESTY AND BEAUTY OF ISLAM

-For those of you who are non-Muslim, even though you may not have understood what I said or even agree with what I said, at least-AT LEAST CONSIDER ISLAM.

- At most you don’t have to have water sprinkled on your head; you don’t have to turn the lights out, put a handkerchief around your eyes and be initiated by being beat down; you don’t have to send out a form or spend some cash or an annual membership fee. All you have to do to in order for you to become a Muslim is say the following:

I bear witness that there is nothing worthy of worship except the One and only True Creator, Allah; and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah.”

-And if you say those words, it is a GUARANTEE that you are going to be forgiven for every single thing you did in the past. EVERYTHING! You will start fresh and new.

-EVERY SIN THAT YOU HAVE COMMITTED IN THE PAST, BE IT BIG OR SMALL, YOU WILL BE FORGIVEN FOR IT AND YOUR SLATE WILL BE CLEAN AND IT WILL JUST BE LIKE THE DAY THAT YOU CAME OUT OF YOUR MOTHER’S WOMB.

-YOU WILL ALSO JOIN THE BROTHERHOOD OF OVER 1.4 BILLION MUSLIMS AROUND THE WORLD!

-LASTLY, YOU WILL RECEIVE SALVATION!

-YOU WILL SEE WHAT NO EYE HAS EVER SEEn, WHAT NO EAR HAS EVER HEARD AND WHAT NO HEART AND MIND COULD EVER EVEN IMAGINE

-YOU WILL RECEIVE THINGS THAT HE HAS PROMISED US IN THE QUR’AN.

-I PRAY THAT ALLAH OPENS YOUR HEART TO ISLAM AND THAT HE ALLOWS YOU TO COME INTO THE FOLD OF ISLAM.

-I ASK ALLAH SUBHANNU WA TA’ALAA TO MAKE ALL OF YOU WHO ARE MUSLIMS STRONG IN THE EFFORT OF BRINGING PEOPLE TO ISLAM; TO LOOSEN THE KNOT IN YOUR TONGUE TO UNDERSTAND YOU AND MAKE YOUR TASK EASY FOR YOU.

-AND I PRAY THAT YOU, WHO ARE NON-MUSLIMS, JUST LIKE I WAS A NON-MUSLIM, BRING YOU INTO THE FOLD FOR THE DAY THAT YOU HAVE TO STAND IN FRONT OF YOUR LORD; A DAY WHICH IS A DREADFUL DAY THAT WE WON’T BE ABLE TO MAKE ANY MORE EXCUSES!

HOW TO BECOME A
MUSLIM

Courtesy of: IslamWorld.net

All praise be to Allah, the Lord of the universe. May peace and blessings of Allah be upon Mohammad, His last Messenger.

The purpose of this hand-out is to correct a false idea spread among those willing to adopt Islam as their faith. Some people have a wrong notion that entering into the Islamic fold requires an announcement from the concerned person in the presence of high ranking scholars or shaikhs or reporting this act to courts of justice or other authorities. It is also thought that the act of accepting Islam, should, as a condition, have a certificate issued by the authorities, as evidence to that effect.

We wish to clarify that the whole matter is very easy and that none of these conditions or obligations are required. For Allah, Almighty, is above all comprehension and knows well the secrets of all hearts. Nevertheless, those who are going to adopt Islam as their religion are advised to register themselves as Muslims with the concerned governmental agency, as this procedure may facilitate for them many matters including the possibility of performing Hadj (Pilgrimage) and Umrah.

If anyone has a real desire to be a Muslim and has full conviction and strong belief that Islam is the true religion ordained by Allah for all human-beings, then, one should pronounce the “Shahada”, the testimony of faith, without further delay. The Holy Qur’an is explicit on this regard as Allah states:

“The Religion in the sight of Allah is Islam.” (Qur’an 3:19)

In another verse of the Holy Qur’an, Allah states:

“If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (Submission to Allah), Never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (their selves in the hell fire).”(Qur’an 3:85)

In addition, Islam is the only religion prevailing over all other religions. Allah states in the Holy Qur’an:

“To thee We sent the Scripture in truth, confirming the scripture that came before it, and guarding it in safety:…” (Qur’an 5:48)

Mohammad, the Prophet of Allah (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him), said:

“The superstructure of Islam is raised on five (pillars): testifying that there is no God (none truely to be worshiped) but Allah, and that Mohammad is the messenger of Allah, performing the prayer, paying the Zakah (poor-due), fasting the month of Ramadan, and performing Hadj“.

The Shahada can be declared as follows:

“ASH-HADU ANLA ELAHA ILLA-ALLAH WA ASH-HADU ANNA MOHAMMADAN RASUL-ALLAH”.

The English translation is:

“I bear witness that there is no deity (none truely to be worshipped) but, Allah, and I bear witness that Mohammad is the messenger of Allah”,

However, it would not be sufficient for anyone to only utter this testimony oraly either in private or in public; but rather, he should believe in it by heart with a firm conviction and unshakeable faith. If one is truly sincere and complies with the teachings of Islam in all his life, he will find himself a new born person.

This will move him to strive more and more to improve his character and draw nearer to perfection. The light of the living faith will fill his heart until he becomes the embodiment of that faith.

What would be next after declaring oneself a Muslim? One should then know the real concept underlying this testimony which means the Oneness of Allah and meet its requirements. One must behave accordingly, applying this true faith to every thing one speaks or does.

What do the words of the “Shahada” signify? The significant point which every Muslim must know very well is the truth that there is no God (deity) to be worshipped other than Allah. He – glory be to Him – is the only true God, Who alone deserves to be worshipped, since He is the Giver of life and Sustainer and Nourisher of mankind and all creation with His unlimited bounties. Man must worship Allah, Who alone is worthy of worship.

The second part of the Shahada (i.e., Wa ash-hadu anna Mohammadan rasul-Allah) means that Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) is the servant and chosen messenger of Allah. No one must have two opinions about this matter. In fact the Muslim has to obey the commands of the Prophet (PBUH), to believe him in what he has said, to practice his teachings, to avoid what he has forbidden, and to worship Allah alone according to the message revealed to him, for all the teachings of the Prophet were in fact revelations and inspirations conveyed to him by Allah.

What is the meaning of worship? It simply means rendering sincere service, showing reverence for Allah. In a deeper shade of meaning, it implies total submission and complete obedience to Allah’s commandments both in utterances and actions of man whether explicit or implicit.

Worship fall into two categories:

  1. Visible (manifest or outward)
  2. Invisible (concealed or inward)

Visible worship includes acts such as uttering the two parts of the “Shahada”, performing prayers, giving Zakah (the poor-due), recitation of the Holy Qur’an, supplication, adoring Allah by praising Him, purifying our bodies before prayers, etc.

This type of worship is associated with movement of the parts of the human body.

Invisible worship is to believe in Allah, in the Day of Judgement (in the Hereafter), in the Angels, in the Books of Allah, in the Prophets of Allah, in the Divine Decree of destiny (that good and bad are determined by Allah alone).

This type of worship does not involve movement of parts of the body but it surely has bearing on one’s heart which subsequently affects one’s way of life.

It should be borne in mind that any worship not dedicated to Allah alone will be rejected as one form of polytheism and this causes apostasy from the Islamic fold.

The next step for a newly revert to Islam is to purify himself by taking a complete bath. He should then resolve to comply with the principles and rules of Islam in their entirety. He should disown all forms of polytheism and false beliefs. He should reject evil and be righteous. Such rejection of evil and being righteous is one of the equisites of the motto of Islam – that is, Laa Ilaha Illallah.

Allah states in the Holy Qur’an:

“… whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy Hand-hold, that never breaks…” (Qur’an 2:256).

We have to consider that when we declare from our heart that “there is no god (deity) worthy to be worshipped but Allah”, it implies on our part love, devotion, faith and obedience to the rules of Islamic legislations which are legally binding on all Muslims. It is a requirement of “there is no god worthy to be worshipped but Allah” to love for the sake of Allah and to reject for the sake of Allah.

This is the firmest anchor of belief which materialise the meaning of “AL WALA” and “AL BARA”. It means that a Muslim should love and be loyal to his Muslim brothers. He should, as a practice, dissociate himself completely from the unbelievers and refuse to be influenced by them, both in worldly and religious matters.

We conclude with a humble prayer to Allah that may He cleanse the hearts and souls of those who are genuine seekers of truth and may He bless the community of believers. Aameen.

Important information for Non-Muslims

IslamWorld.net

If anyone has a real desire to be a Muslim and has full conviction and strong belief that Islam is the true religion ordained by Allah for all human-beings, then, one should pronounce the “Shahada“, the testimony of faith, without further delay. The Holy Qur’an is explicit on this regard as Allah states:

“If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (Submission to Allah), Never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost.”(Qur’an 3:85)

If a person does not pronounce the Shahada and enter Islaam, we cannot say that he is a Muslim, even if he admired Islaam and recognized that it the best religion, a great religion, and so on. Abu Taalib, the uncle of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) died a kaafir (non-Muslim), and Allaah forbade His Prophet to pray for forgiveness for him, even though he used to defend the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said in his poems: “I do know that the religion of Muhammad is better than all other religions of mankind; were it not for fear of blame or slander, you would find me accepting it completely.”
